These are both actions taken by a player to increase the size of their bet, usually by adding more chips to the front of the table. Another way to increase a bet is to “call.” This means that the player puts the required amount into the pot.

A poker table consists of a series of chips, which are usually black or blue in color. The pot is placed in the center of the table. After the flop is dealt, the first round of betting is complete. Each of the remaining players is dealt one more card. Once all the cards are out, the final round of betting is called the Showdown.
